Dahod is a district of Gujarat, a state in western India. Dahod District is also known as Dohad District. The districts administrative headquarter is Dahod City. On 2nd October 1997, Dahod District was created. It was formerly a part of Panchmahal District. In addition to Fatehpura Taluka of Sunth State and two eastern mahals of Dahod and Jhalod from the former Panchmahals, the Dahod District region consist of two former princely States, namely Baria and Sanjeli. According to the 2001 census, it was 9.55% urban.
On the west, the Dahod District is surrounded by Panchmahal District, on the south by Vadodara District, on the east by Jhabua District and on the southeast by Alirajpur District of Madhya Pradesh State, and on the north and northeast by Banswara District of Rajasthan State. The majority of the districts residents are Tribals, mostly Bhils. The population of the district is mostly rural. The second largest populated area by Dawoodi Bohra is Dohad District. It is a sect of Muslims in India. The actual name is Dohad. It later got altered to Dahod. Aurangzeb, the Mughal Emperor took birth in a mosque within the fort of Dahod. The Indian Prime Minister started a government polytechnic college in 1963 and it is there since then.

The main namkeen of the city is called Kachori. People consume almost 35000 numbers of namkeen per day. For the surrounding areas of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, Dahod is the medical hub. The value of real estate in Dahod has shot up in the recent years. The land rates are even higher than Ahmedabad in few places in Dahod.

The districts climate is usually hot and it is regarded as a rain fed area. 739mm is the average rainfall. Due to rain delays, the district has to go through drought sometimes. From March to June the climate is very hot and winter prevails from November to February.
