Rajasthan is a state located in the western part of India. Churu is a district of Rajasthan state and is situated in the Jangladesh area of northern Rajasthan. The administrative headquarters of the district is located in the town of Churu. It is situated on The districts shares its borders on the north by Hanumangarh District, on the east by the state of Haryana, on the southeast by Jhunjhunun and Sikar, while to the south Churu is surrouded by Nagaur District and to the west by Bikaner District. Churu, Ratangarh, Taranagar, Rajgarh, Sardarshahar, and Sujangarh are the six tehsils of the district. Bajra and Gram are the two important crops. Copper and gypsum minerals are mainly found in the district.
The district is located in the Thar Desert. It is situated on the National Highway-65. The highway links Pali and Ambala. It is also a junction station on the railway line which goes to Bikaner. It is positioned close to the moving sand dunes of the Thar Desert. The district houses magnificent havelis which contains wonderful fresco paintings like Kanhaiya lal Bagla ki Haweli and Surana Haweli and numerous little windows. Some excellent Chhatris is also there. A religious seat of the Nath sect of Sadhus is there near the town. There are life-size marble statues of their gods and goddesses and an area for their prayers. A Dharma Stup is also found there, which is a sign and symbol of religious equality. A fort was constructed at the centre of the town almost 400 years ago.
Churu History
Churu is acknowledged as the doorway to the great Thar Desert. Churu, the desert city, is situated in the desolate area of Rajasthan. The place is considered to be of much significance in historic point of view. Churu, who was a Jat discovered the town of Churu in 1620 AD. Similar to an oasis, Churu is located in the centre of the changing sand dunes. It acts as a doorway to the great That Desert. Churu was a portion of the Bikaner State before the time of independence. In 1948, when the government of Bikaner State was re-arranged, the district came into being. The district contains three tehsils namely Churu, Rajgarh and Taranagar.
The district has a miscellaneous and assorted type of climate and culture. The district occupies 4.5% of the total area of the state of Rajasthan. The Ganganagar district, the Nagaur district and the Bikaner district surround the Churu District on the north, south and west direction respectively. It is bordered by Sikar and Jhunjhunu districts of Rajasthan and Hissar district of Haryana on the east. The district contains 6 sub-divisions, 6 tehsils, 1 Nagar Prashid, 9 municipalities and 908 villages. Apart from 6 tehsils it has 1 additional tehsil and 2 sub tehsil.

In any given 12 months, maximum range of temperature is recorded in the city of Churu. It experiences extreme temperatures both in the winter season as well as in the summers, along with very low rainfall and frequently it comes in the news for this fact. 52 degree Celsius is the maximum temperature recorded, where as the minimum temperature seen is -6 degree Celsius.
Churu Tourism
The other important towns in the district are Sujangarh, Ratangarh, Sardarshahar, Tarangar, Rajgarh, Ratannagar, Chapper, Bidasar and Rajaldesar. The main crowd pulling tourist spot in the district is the Tal Chhapar Sanctuary, especially for wild life lovers. This sanctuary contains 1680 black bucks and migratory birds. The magnificent and lavish Havelis in Ratannagar, Ratangarh and Sardarshahar towns, Salasars Hanuman Temple, the Venkateshwar temple at Sujangarh, Goga Pir in Dadrewa,which is the birth place of local deity and the Gurudwara in Sahawa,a newly constructed Ichchhapurna Balaji Temple at Sardarshahar are some of the other tourist attractions. Among the Shakta Tantra followers of India, Bhadrakali Temple at Rajaldesar is famous. Anant Shri Vibhushit Dandi and Swami Jogendrashram ji Maharaj founded this place.
