Sawain is the village surrounded one side by Badela river which is part of Ganga river (from Baksar) and is the border of Unnao district. After crossing Badela river Raebareli district starts. This village was build in 12th Century by son in law of one of the Rajput King Raja Khem Karan Singh. History of Raja Khem Karan Singh is mentioned in the History Book Cranical Of Unnao which is available in the Library of Aligadh Muslim University. This village and surrounding area was gifted by the said king to his son in law after marriage. Here the generation from the same king live. In this village Hindu Muslims live united for so many centuries. Farming is the only occupation in this village. So people from this village have migrated to Calcutta, Mumbai and Delhi in search of Job. Adjoining to Sawain is the village Ganj which was built due to short of space for housing in Sawain village. Late Mr Ashraf Khan from village Ganj took part in Quit India Moment against British Rule in 1942 and a court case was filed against him at Unnao Court. He was acquitted and released. Here climate is too cold in winter and too hot in summer. Trees of Mango, Neem, Mahua and Guava are being planted in this village. There is good and sufficient drinking and farming water available throughout the year through river bypass, Wells and Hand Pumps in this village. Late Mr Rafi Ahmed Qidwai (former home minister of Utter Pradesh and friend of first Prime Minister Of India Shri Jawaharlal Nehru) had visited this village after independence in the year1949 to meet his friend (Late Mr. Ejaz Ahmed Khan's brother) in this village and had given speech there at that time. In the speech he had told the villagers to live united and with peace and to solve any dispute within the village. There was no Post Office in the village till the year 1972. For all post related works people of the village had to go to Bhagwant Nagar (about 5 Km distance from the village Sawain)). In 1973 Late Mr. Ejaz Ahmed Khan made lot of efforts and got the Post Office approved for Sawain which is working till date.
