The Town of Unnao was also constituted a Municipality in the same year. Hiuen Tsang, the famous Chinese pilgrim to India, stayed at Kannauj for 3 months in 636 AD. He then moved to a city called Na-fo-ti-po-ku-lo situated on the banks of the River Ganga which is 26 kilometers from Kannauj. It was a small city with about 5 kilometers circumference.
