UDVADA

 

Udvada is a tiny little coastal city which is renowned for its salubrious climate and majestic ambience. Apart from its splendid scenic locale, Udvada the then camel grazing place is now famed as a prime devotional centre of the Parsis. The Parsi culture is very much evident in the city with the Parsi style monuments and palatial buildings. 

 

Iranshah Atash Behram is an ancient and famous fire temple belonging to the Parsi community. Legends say that the sacred fire in the temple is burning since 1200 years.  

 

Walking down through the calm and peaceful streets of Udvada is itself a great pleasure. The Parsi culture, their tradition and lifestyle, view of the palatial buildings and holy places can be seen and felt by enjoying a leisurely walk around the city.

 

Apart from devotional centers, Udvada is generously blessed with natural beauty in abundance. The lingering sea waves, cool climate and lush greenery speak about the richness of the scenic glamour.  The unspoilt and calm sea shores offer a soothing effect. 

 

The mouth-watering Parsi delicacies like Fried Mullet Fish, Vin-Daloo fish curry, Sali Margi, Rava Sheera, Dhanshak, Macaroons and Nan Khatai can be feasted upon till you are contented.

Parsi food is famous in Udvada. One can treat themselves to some of the famous Parsi food in any local restaurant. Food items like Fried Boi(Mullet Fish), vin-daloo fish curry, sali margi or ghosht, Rava Sheera, Dhanshak, Macaroons and nan khatai are worth giving a try.

By road: This place can be easily accessed by road, since buses and taxis provide services. The eastern corner of the city provides bus stations for both private and ST buses. The distance between Surat and Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Mumbai is 234 Kms, 131 Kms and 297 Kms respectively.

By rail: The Udvada Railway Station is situated at a distance of 11 Kms from the heart of the city. Mumbai and other cities of India are to this place through the railway station.

By air: Air connectivity is provided by the Surat Airport. Many a number of domestic flights connects Surat to the metro cities as well as other cities of India.
