Kolasib

The tiny town of Kolasib in the Indian state of Mizoram is a picturesque place. The distance between Aizawl, which is the capital city of Mizoram and this place is 83 Kms. This town functions as the administrative headquarters of the Kolasib District. The position of this place is right in the middle of the state capital, Aizawl and Silchar.

The customs and traditions of the inhabitants of the town of Kolasib are unique and distinct. The languages spoken by the people of this place are Mizo and English. Agriculture is the major profession of the people of this region.

                                   TOURIST PLACES IN KOLASIB

Tlawng River: One can carry out fishing activities in the Tlawng River. This location is situated at Kolasib. The interesting locations that are situated in and around this place are the Bairabi Hydel Project, Regional Research Station of the Rubber Institute of India and an Industrial Estate.

Vairengte: The district of Kolasib of the Indian state of Mizoram contains the place called Vairengte. The distance between Aizawl and Vairengte is 130 Kms. The plush green forests encircle the picturesque town of Vairengte. The population of the place is not that much in numbers. One gets mesmerized by the meadows covered in blankets of mists during driving on the hilly roads from Aizawl. The environment of the town is very warm and hospitable with nice, friendly people. For the people, who are an ardent lover of Mother Nature, this destination is an ideal location.

  

The Blue Mountain (Phawngpui): One of the principal tourist spots of the state of Mizoram is Phawngpui. This place is apt for the people who especially love adventurous sports. This is also the most altitudinous peak of Mizoram. The height of the peak is 2,157 feet. It is located in the district of Chhimtuipui, near to the boundary between India and Myanmar. This place is a home to numerous kinds of aromatic herbs and unusual kinds of orchids and rhododendrons. One can obtain a breathtaking and beautiful sight of the majestic hills and the winding meadows from a plain stretch of land of an area of 200 hectares. This place is also known by the name of the Blue Mountain of Mizoram. This hill is supposedly considered to be the place where the Gods dwell. 

  

Dampa Sanctuary: The Dampa Sanctuary is situated in the north western part of the hills of Mizoram. One can see here various kinds of animals such as swamp deer, tigers, leopards, elephants and other unusual species. 

By air: The closest air terminal is the Lengpui Airport of Aizawl. 

By rail: The Silchar Railway Station is the closest railway station.

By road: Kolasib has good road connections to other major towns and cities.
