In the year 1607 AD, the city of Faridabad was discovered by Sheikh Farid. It is counted as one of the biggest cities and also one of the main business centers of the state of Haryana. The northern side of the place is surrounded by Delhi, the western side is surrounded by the district of Gurgaon and the eastern and southern sides are surrounded by the state of Uttar Pradesh. On the plains created by the Yamuna River, the city of Faridabad is located. In the shape of semi circular structure, the Faridabad city had been planned. Faridabad and Ballabgarh are the two sub-divisions of the district. This has been done for ease of administration.

Of all the districts of the state of Haryana, Faridabad is considered to be one of the most advanced districts. The numerous industries – both small scale and large, enhances the significance of Faridabad. The state’s 60 percent of the revenue is produced from here and also 50 percent of the total income tax collected in the state of Haryana, comes from here and also from Gurgaon.

Some of the renowned products produces in the city are the Heena manufacturing in relating to agricultural industry and other products such as tractors, motorcycles, switch gears, refrigerators, shoes and tyres. 

Not only is an industrial centre, Faridabad is also a good location for visiting as a tourist. There are many attractions situated in and around the city, such as the Badhkal Lake, Baba Farid Tomb and Raja Nahar Singh Palace. Every year, in the month of February, the much popular mela named the Suraj Kund MEla is hosted here beside the Surajkund Lake. 

                                                      PLACES TO VISIT

Badkhal Lake: At a distance of 30 Kms from Delhi, this amazing lake is located. The beautiful hills of the Aravalli Range form the background of the place. People from adjacent neighborhoods come here for nice and relaxing picnics. Activities such as canoeing, kayaking and many more are carried out here in the lake. There are lodging amenities for the people, who come here from faraway places. One can also try out camping here. The months during the summer witness huge footfall. 

Surajkund Lake: Surajkund hosts one of the largest craft fairs in India. This is an ideal location for tourists to come during the summer months. The fair takes place during the month of February. A wide variety of handicrafts from many locations in India, are showcased in this fair. 

Tomb of Baba Farid: One of the many attractions of Faridabad is the tomb of Baba Farid. Numerous pilgrims and tourists make a visit to this place.

Nahar Singh Palace: Another name of Ballabgarh Fort is given to the Nahar Singh Palace. Balram built the palace. The name of the palace has been derived from the name of the King Nahar Singh. The place was at present restored along with numerous archaic and ancient remains.

Shiva Temple – Faridabad: In Faridabad’s Sector 49’s Sainik Colony, the Shiva Temple is located. The temple is quite a renowned temple. The large Shiva Lingam is the principal feature of the temple. The height of the Shiva-Lingam is 22 Feet.

Town Park – Faridabad: In the Sector 12 of the city of Faridabad city, the Town Park, which is a beautiful park, is situated. Numerous people come to the park in order to relax and escape the hustle and bustle of the daily life. The principal attractions of the park are the plush lawns covered in thick greeneries and the wide species of trees. 

Nahar Singh Palace – Faridabad: King Nahar Singh’s palace has been constructed in the year 1739 AD. It contains much historical significance. Right in the centre of the Ballabgarh town, this palace is situated. The distance between this place and South Delhi is a mere 15 Kms. Excellent specimen of architecture and design is reflected from the structure of the palace.

Golf Tourism – Faridabad: The Aravalli Golf Course was constructed in the year 1966. The distance between the golf course and Delhi is 30 Kms. The area of the golf course is 75 acres. A 12 holes facility and a club house are present in the golf course. On the Delhi-Ambala Road that is on the NH-1, another golf course is situated.

Nahar Singh Cricket Stadium – Faridabad: In the year 1981, the construction of the Nahar Singh Cricket Stadium took place in Faridabad. This has been built in order to host tournaments on international level. In whole of the North India, this stadium stands out be one of the most well equipped and modern stadiums.  

Rose Gardens – Faridabad: Numerous varieties of roses can be observed in the two rose gardens located in the city. In Sector 17, one of the rose gardens is situated and the second one is situated adjacent to the Nahar Singh Stadium. 

Sai Baba Temple – Faridabad: In Sector 16A of Faridabad, the Sai Baba temple is situated. A ditto copy of the statue of Shirdi Sai Baba, Shirdi is present in the temple. The temple contains two distinct locations for carrying out ‘Dhuni’ and ‘Dwaraka Mayee’. A large number of followers come to this temple.

By rail: Faridabad has quite a large railway station. 

By air: The closest air terminal is the Indira Gandhi International Airport. It is located at a distance of 28 Kms.
