In Arunachal Pradesh, West Kameng district’s headquarters is situated in the tiny picturesque town of Bomdila. The elevation of this place is as much as 8000 ft above the sea level. The town is situated against the charming backdrop of breathtaking sceneries and mountain tops of the Himalayan range, covered in snow. 

Many a number of beautiful tourist locations are there. The weather remains cool and very enjoyable. The orchards of beautiful apples, the people full of culture and artistry, the mountain tops of the Himalayan Range covered in snow and the Buddhist Gompas are some of the reasons, which make this place a must see. One of the major tourist attracting locations, is the Buddhist Monastery of Bomdila. It is a storehouse of culture. Accommodations facilities are provided by a tourist lodge, which is present here. Also present are a centre, which displays local handicrafts to the public eye and also a place for shopping, where people comes in touch with the actual culture and traditions of the Himalayan Buddhist Life.

During ones journey towards Tawang, one can travel to Dirang Valley and the renowned Sela Pass. The altitude of the pass is 13,700 ft above the sea level. It is an adventurous place to visit. In Tippi, the Orchid Research & Development Station is situated. Also, at Sessa and Dirang there are two more Orchid preservation centers or sanctuaries. The months between April and October are the ideal time to make a trip to here.

The Orchid Research and Development Station: In Tippi, the Orchid Research & Development Station is situated. Also, at Sessa and Dirang there are two more Orchid preservation centers or sanctuaries.

Craft Centre & Ethnographic Museum: Also present are a centre, which displays local handicrafts to the public eye and also a place for shopping, where people comes in touch with the actual culture and traditions of the Himalayan Buddhist Life. One can get ‘dragon’ motifs on carpets of vibrant colors, Buddhist Tangkas which are wall hangings and the masks. Another location to go to is the Ethnographic Museum.

Buddhist Monasteries: One of the major attraction in the beautiful town of Bomdila and which everyone should pay a visit to, are the ‘Gompas’, otherwise known as Buddhist Monasteries.

Apple Orchards: A tour in the orchards full of apple tress is a fascinating experience for the tourists.

Tawang Town: In the north direction of Bomdila, Tawang, a tiny town, is situated. While going to Tawang from Bomdila, one experiences a spectacular sight full of Dirang Valleys and also the renowned Sela Pass. The altitude of the pass is 4300 meter above the sea level. Famous in the whole world for the ancient Buddhist monastery, which dates back a 400 years, Tawang is located at an elevation of 3400 meters above sea level. The ancient monastery has been in existence from the middle part of the 17th century. In the northeastern part of India, this monastery is an important Buddhist center.

Some Important Destinations near Bomdila: In the west direction of Bhalukpong, at a distance of 100 Kms from it, Bomdila is located. The distance between Bomdila and Tezpur is 160 Kms.

Airport: Tezpur has the closest air terminal. The distance between the airport and Bomdila is 160 Kms. Flights of Indian Airlines fly in and out of this airport.
Railhead: Tezpur, located at a distance of 160 Kms from Bomdila, and Rangapara have the closest railway stations.
Road Transport: Daily buses ply between Tezpur and Tawang and Bomdila. From Guwahti, Tezpur, Tawang and Itanagar, state transports buses offer transport services.
