Athirappilly
Athirappilly- a land known for its rivers, forests and great waterfalls! This place is known to have the largest waterfall in Kerala, hence makes it a tourist hub. It is called the Niagra of India. This region in Sholayar ranges embedded with lush green forest cover, the sound of the waterfall which is located central to Cochin and River Nila(Bharathapuzha), is a beautiful sight in monsoon.

Water Theme Parks
For a wonderful time with family and friends, there are two water theme parks that can be visited.
1. Silver Storm Amusement Park- This exciting Water Theme Park is located at Vettilapara near the famous Athirappilly waterfalls in Thrissur District.
2. Dream World Amusement Park- Dream World, a water theme park is situated close to the Athirappilly waterfalls.
Charpa Falls
To the east of Athirappally is the lesser known Charpa falls which rushes on to the road during monsoon. It is pleasing to the eye and a rare experience indeed.
Thumpurmuzhi Gardens
Thumpurmuzhi is an ideal scenic view with its garden and a waterfall. A tranquil and much needed escape from the troubles of life.
Malakapara Tea Gardens
For adventure lovers, a family safari through the forest and high ranges (Western Ghats) complemented with lots of hairpin curves takes you to through the beauty of Malakapara tea Gardens. If you are lucky you may even end up getting to see some wildlife.
Anakkayam
It is situated about 20 km from Chalakudy on the Sholayar Peringalkuthu route. Anakkayam literally means the "Elephant pit". If all you want is to relax in a cool and calm surrounding by the lake, this is the place to be. It is a forest untouched by human intrusion. It attracts tourists with its sparkling streams, natural rock formations and vegetation.
Vazhachal Forest Gardens
There is abundant flora and herbal plantation maintained by the forest n Vazhachal, it is a Botanists dream destination.
HOW TO VISIT?
Kochi airport is the nearest airport (55 km) to Athirappilly.
Thrisuur & Kochi are the two major railway junctions and are 78 km & 66 km from Athirappilly. Chalakudy Railway station is the nearest railway station. It is just 31 km from Athirappilly waterfalls.
It is 55 km from Kochi. There are plenty of good coaches - both private & government - plying between Bangalore & Cochin. There is plenty of luxury Volvo coaches plying between these 2 cities as well and it's just an overnight journey from Bangalore to Cochin by road.
WHEN TO VISIT?
The best time to visit Athirappilly is just after monsoon ( August to September). If you enjoy getting drenched in the rain, then anytime between June and September would be a great time to visit Athirappilly.
