Places to visit in Asansol

Kalyaneswari Temple- this temple is quite famous in Asansol. It is an ancient temple with the deity of Goddess Kalyaneswari, a form of goddess Kali or power. It is situated close to the Maithan Dam. The tourists visit the temple for holy purpose.

Maithan- a dam on the Damodar River is quite popular as tourists spot. Every year thousands of people visit the place and return with a satisfying smile on their face. Churulia-  a small village just 17km away from Asansol. This is basically famous as it is the birth place of Kaji Nazrul Islam, the great Indian poet. Presently the house of Nazrul is famous as Nazrul Academy, where one can find different manuscripts of Nazrul, his medals that he had achieved during his lifetime and many of his famous works.

Howrah or Sealdah is the rail head of Asansol. It takes few hours to reach Asansol from the station.

Best time to visit the place

        An ideal time to visit Asansol is during monsoon that is in the month June, September- December. It is better to avoid visiting the place during the rainy season that is during the month of July. July experiences the maximum amount of rainfall. Otherwise this place has a pleasant climate throughout the year.
