Shop town situated in Nagarachal region is known for stepwells, monasteries and legends. The calm and picturesque environment, wildlife and natural beauty here are enough to mesmerize anyone. The tourist places here include Singhasa Stepwell, Bagh (Monastery), Bhavabhutiya Bagh Stepwell, Mishra Ji Stepwell, Leeladhar Stepwell, Madan Mohan Ji Temple, Char Bhuja Ji Temple, Radhavallabh Ji Temple, Gyanrai Ji Temple, Lakshminarayan. Ji's temple, Balaji of Tibara, Balaji of stepwell, Mataji's temple, Chamunda's temple, Dehalwalji's temple, Jama Masjid, Islamia Masjid, Moti Masjid, Idgah Masjid, Galwaniya Dam, Amaliya Pond, Gulia Pond, Gomti Pond, Heera Ki Talai and Murkadi are stone mining areas etc. This area was ruled by Nawab of Tonk, Amir Khan Pindari and his descendants, whose bravery and intelligence were also recognized by the British government. There is a legend about Singhasa stepwell in Shop town that a very rich businessman named Singhasa of Jain community lived here. He had a very beautiful davdi (girl is called davdi in Rajasthani) whose name was Lali Bai. Stories of Lali Bai's beauty started spreading in all directions. When Delhi's ruler Alauddin Khilji heard the stories of Lali Bai's beauty, Khilji felt like marrying Lali Bai. He conveyed the news of his marriage to Lali Bai to Singhasa through his messengers, on hearing which Singhasa fell into grave religious crisis. To get out of this religious crisis, Singhasa consulted his brother Bhaisa Shah, then both the brothers together made a plan so that they could save themselves from the wrath of the Sultan and also not have to marry their daughter. He started the construction of a beautiful stepwell in Shop town in which many winding stairs and squares were built. Within some time, a nine-storey stepwell was completed. Inside this stepwell, a pillar was kept hollow in which any person could be hidden in case of trouble. Lali Bai was hidden inside this pillar. At the given time, Alauddin Khilji reached Shop town with his army and started demanding to marry Lali Bai. Then Singhasa told Khilji that we do not have a stepwell but there is a beautiful stepwell which you can see. Seeing the stepwell, Khilji became convinced that the information he had received about the beautiful girl was wrong and he turned back. There were so many pillars in the stepwell that it became impossible to identify which pillar was kept hollow. Due to which Lali Bai could not be taken out from that pillar and Lali Bai got lost in this stepwell forever. That is why it is also called a stepwell built on a Davadi.This stepwell is still standing with its three floors which are very beautiful.
