OverView of Rajeshwari West

This village is mainly famous for RAJESHWARI BHAGWATI and hence the name of this village is RAJESHWARI.

The known founder of this village who came from Darbhanga(old) was Chaturvedi Kamdev Sharmanah. We of 27th generation residing on this village in continuation.Mahamahopadhyay Dharmaditya was in 10th generation who was eleven brothers and all of them were  Mahamahopadhyay. We the Mishra families by mula Belauchegarh belongs from our forefather Dharmaditya.

At Present the present village is at about distance of 3 kilometers from RAJESHWARI BHAGWATI temple. At the time of devastation created by Kosi about one hundred years ago, the original village shifted from the site of the temple but the small temple of MATA RAJESHWARI  remained intact. It is said That nine pandits  performed a yagyan to save the temple in the middle of the river with a solemn ceremony that they would sacrifice their lives if the course of Kosi would not change. The yagyan became successful when the river changed its course and the temple was saved. Deottar State gave the temple 12 bighas of land in the name of RAJESHWARI BHAGWATI  to this village.

It is a well cultured village. Pandit SHIVSHANKAR JHA and Pandit LEELADHAR MISHRA were the eminent Sanskrit's scholar of this village.  MR.S.D.JHA(I.R.S.), MR.L.N. MISHRA (B.A.S,A.D.M), MR.SHIVSHANKAR MISHRA (B.A.S), DR.AMRENDRAJHA (MBBS,MD). ER. SURENDRA MISHRA,  D r. Professor Mithilesh Mishra ( Principal  of Purnea College Purnea) etc. are the pride of this village.There are more than forty Engineers, many  Professors,Teachers also belonging from this village.

In recent years renovation of RAJESHWARI BHAGWATI's mandir was made and people from all corners from this district visit here every day. 

SIDDHA-PEETHAS MATA RAJESHWARI:-

Rajeshwari bhagwati ,at rajeshwari,p.s-Chatapur,dist-Supaul is recognised as one of the SIDDHA-PEETHAS of northern India.First of all, Mishra family, Gotra- Bhardwaj,Mula-Belauche-Garh, came to this place about fifteen generations ago. This has already been authenticated by the Panzikar. The Peeth of Mata Rajeshwari is about three kilometers east of the present village.

It is said that about three hundred years ago the Peeth of Mata Rajeshwari was covered by a small shade,also known as Gahwar. The forefathers of Mishra families started worshipping Mata Rajeshwari. Eldest son of the family was intrusted to this job. Till one hundred years before this place was surrounded by jungles. The village was situated just west of the Gahwar but Kosi devastated the village and the Gahwar of Mata Rajeshwari remained intact. The old village after displacement is at the present site.

This village was under the zamindari Of Deottar State who gave 12 acres of land in the name of Mata Rajeshwari. The present mandir is situated in the middle of this land.There is a big pond in south side of the temple.

By the laps of time the Gahwar was replaced and a Pucca plinth was constructed.The wall on the plinth was of tina and also the upper portion.About hundred years ago the pujari changed .The original Mishra family and the eldest brother among them Late Dorik Lal Mishra handed over the charge of Mandir to the grand father of the present pujari Ashok Mishra.

In 1985 the govt. service holders of Rajeshwari convened a meeting to rennovate the Mandir. The map was prepeared by Shree Birendra Jha, Engineer. It was decided unanimously to contribute one month basic salary for rennovating the Mandir.SHREE S.D.JHA(I.R.S.), SHREE L.N. MISHRA (A.D.M), SHREE SURENDRA MISHRA (EX. ENGINEER) AND DR. AMRENDRAJHA (M.D.,CHILD) contributed their level best in this mission. Our grandfather SHREE SHARANGDHAR MISHRA and SHREE SHIVANAND MISHRA were the co operators of the accounts. All the villagers did there level best in this work and the mandir was constructed in the present form.

On the eastern site of the mandir land there  is famous Gochar Hatt.

After rennovation of the mandir "PUJA ARCHANA" beagan in a bigger ways.More than hundred  Shradhalus come everyday to offer their prayer to MAIYA. On Friday more than thousand persons irrespective of caste,colour or creed reach here.Even Muslim   offers sweets to Mata to fulfill their wishes. It is said that blood of Mata SATI was dropped here (RAJ) and here the name of  RAJESHWARI  and BHAGWATI is in the form of PINDA. The whole temple is covered by a very big PEEPAL TREE about more than hundred years old.

On the month of BAISAKH yearly puja of Mata Rajeshwari is made by the contribution of villagers.It is performed in a big way.In this puja atleast 12 pandits perform whole DURGA SAPTASATI PATH. It is a whole day celebration.
