The Village Bav is situated in Taluka Kudal in the district of Sindhudurga. It is located at 6 Km's from Kudal S.T. stand and aroud 5 km's from Kudal railway station. Bav has a population of around 2400 to 2500 with peoples of various castes staying together amicably.
The main occupation of people here is agriculture with rice cultivation being main crop of this village. Of late people have started cultivating groundnut, nachani, sunflower, udid and kulith. Some farmers are also growing watermelon however it is on small scale.
There are two schools in the village bav. Once is primay school which is upto 7th standard and second one is Secondary school which is upto 12th standard. Computer education is also given in the secondary school with Arts being the main stream in this school. Initially students had to go to Kudal city due to lack of College in this village hwever with the opening of college students from around 5 villages surrounding Bav have benefited due to this. Dedicated and committed staff is the main assset of this college due to which in a short span of time it has shown good results and attained fame.
The village has got ancient and age old villages with Lord Siddheshwar being the main god of the village. The temple of Siddheshwara was reconstructed recently by the villagers giving it a modern look keeping in trend of modern times. The festival of Mahashivratri is celebrated in a grand scale in this temple.
The village is artistic in view surrounded by mountains and Karli river flowing by its side. The river has flow of water for 12 months. The water is used for irrigation purpose by the villagers and also enjoyed by childrens for swimming.
