Gahan in Hindi means dense forest. Gahan is sorounded by thik Devdar jungle which makes it so beautiful specially in winters. average temperature is 18 degree in summers and 6 degree in winters.
Gahan valley was recognised in 1910 by Britishers who use to travel to Sarahan Via Gahan valley. they were so fascinated by beauty of this valley that they decided to construct a Rest House here which came operational in 1913.
This Rest house was called Bungalow that time, even today the Place where it is built called Banglau. now this rest house is under forest department. Gahan is situated between two valleys Raik and Sammat. Raik has big villages like Kholighat, Nagadhar, Khunni, Panoli while Sammat Has Shilla , Addu, Jabalda. Soil of this valley is so fertile that it has made Gahan one of the Asia`s richest villages.. single valley produces 5 lakh apple cartons every year which makes this valley more prosperous every year. Gahan is now concentrating one more valuable product, Cherry. Last year Gahan Produces more than 2 Lakh Cherry Boxes.
This is the only village which attracts its young mind to come back after studying in big cities..and live the life of Kings in a Small Valley.

Gahan Valley is situated in Sub Tehsil Nankhari, 82 km far from the state capital. one need to follow NH-22 till Narkanda and take straight road towards Nankhari which is 37km from Narkanda. Gahan Valley is 18 KM from Narkanda.Gahan in Hindi means dense forest.
