OverView of Mahuli
Mahuli was founded by the noble Mane(raje) family of Mhaswad. Some members of the royal Mane(raje) clan was given a portion(hisa) and settled in this village. The administration and tax collection of prant consisting of several villages around mahuli was looked after by this clan at the palatial fortress(Gadhi) located at the heart of the village opposite the ancient Hemadpanti Shiv Temple. This Gadhi was said to be on a high cliff which overlooked the whole prant pradesh. The fortress had huge walls and barracks and also had a small darbar for adminstrative hearings. But this gadhi was damaged through the years of non maintenance and now only broken hints of it exist and also tee cliff which has been weathered down. The present day Mane clan live in independent houses near the gadhi. The later generation of the original descendants of the Mane(raje) settled in Bombay and Pune city. But some few members of the clan living in the village were appointed by the british government as police supervisors of the pradesh with the honourary title of Police Patil hence some members took on the surname Patil. But the original descendants still use the surname as Mane(raje). There are other families in the village mostly deshmukhs, More, Devkar,Patil etc. The land in and around mahuli is mostly farmland because of the easy accessibility of water.But development has taken place rapidly and there are plenty concrete roads, schools, banks restaurants in this small town. There is a superspeciality hospital and medical college around 1.5 kms on the outskirts of mahuli. Most of the farming lands in and around Mahuli are owned by Mane(raje) clan the rest owned by the other farming clans. Asias largest water irrigation system project " tembhu sinchan prakalp " is in mahuli.very popular for advanced farmings and also famous for export quality grapes productions.Edit below overview about Mahuli
