OverView of Ilavara
The village Ilavara has mythalogical back ground. The sthala purana, the story realted to the village, as told by village elders is retold here. There are no record are archeological evidance for this story.Once up on a time thetre are two demon brothers Illavara (Illavala) and Vatapi. the are cunning. The used to invite travellers for food. Vatapi will transform in to a ram. Illavala will serve the meet to the guest. After wards Illavala will call Vatapi by name. He will come out by tearing the stomach. Both the brother will eat the guest. Once the great sage, Agastya come to this area. The brothers invite him for dinner and paly usual trick. But Agastya knew this and while eating, he chants Vatapi jeernam ( Vatapi is digested)and he is really digested. Then Agastya orders Illavala to leave the place. This is purely a legend. But probably the brothers are robbers killing & robing the travellers and Agastya might have killed or driven them out
Coming to known facts, originally there was a village about 2 Km north west of present location. This is called peda padu, meaning old ruins, now. This is near a small stream, presently dry. For some reson,the village was shifted to a place about 0.5 km north of present location. This is called padu, ruins, now. Old pottery and other items are found once in a while. For some unknown reson, the village is shifted to present location. The first to shift is with family name Nethi. So the present village is genarally called Nathivaripalem.
if it is real .it was awesome to hear about our village ,why beacuse after 10 years of lord sri ram in forest he decided to meet agasthya maha muni and he came to this village first at that time it is called agasthya bratha asramam .lord rama ,sitha , laxmana were stayed one night in this village .
