Name of the village "Dharasur" is originated by the name of Lord Shiva .There is a temple of lord Shiva situated on the bank of river Godavari, that is called Dhareshwar . Temple was built in 11th century during Chalukyan regime. This temple is supposed to be one of the few amongst having Shikhar intact so far.A sculpture of Lord Vishnu is so beutiful & great in artistic view .Carving & sculptures on this temple are so beutiful which makes it a unique monument. That's why it is considered to be a holy tirthakshetra in the surrounding area. Considering its geographical location on the bank of river godavari which has water in it around the year due to Khadka dam & Historical importance of the temple Dharasur has been declared a tourist spot of Parbhani in the year 2013. Many tales are told about that temple.People are celebrating Saptah on the occasion of Mahashivratri from many years .Now the temple has started deterioting & there is need to conserve the historical monument.Many hands are trying to restore it.Edit below overview about Dharasur
