OverView of Teda

Few lines of my reminiscences: Tedha is a gorgeous village situated adjoins to the city of Ramnager. It is enclosed with green forest vicinity by the side of Koshi river. There are two temple, one is of Tlmat Than Baba (formerly it was called Sapth Rishi Mandir) positioned at entrance point of village whereas the temple of Bhagwati Mata is to be found on the head side of Tedha Goan. Each year, the villagers commemorate the Bhagwati puja. They Cooke and distribute the “Prashad” under three Mango tree to the villagers.  As per story I heard from my father, this piece of land was governed by an Australian leady & her lad. After that it was procured by the surrounding villagers with the rate of Rs. 30/bigha. Pradhan ji and his brother (names unknown) had lead villagers to collect the cash for the procurement of land pieces. The elder brother of Pradhan ji was officer in Rishikesh Haridwar  (in British time). Eelier the villagers also celebrates the Ramlila Manchan but due to some miss happening with Shabha Pati ji (Father of Mr. Kishan ), it was stopped in 1981-82 (year maybe incorrect). After this incident they had decided to go to Ramnager city near Sher Bilding (landlord Mr. Rebadhar Shrama ) for the calibration of Ramlila. That time the main market of villagers was (is) Ramnager: HS, Birth place Tedha Goan in1974.

The Teda village situated just at a distance of less than 3 km from Ramnagar is basically an agricultural village having  about 1500 bigha of land which is rich in cultivating. The main crops grown here are paddy, wheat, maize, mandua (ragi) etc. There are also some orchards of different kinds of mango fruit in the village. The mangoes of this  village are delicious. The village is thickly populated having about 300 families ( about 4500 population) consisting of all castes i.e. brahmins, rajputs and harijans and all are residing here in a harmonious atmosphere. The villagers have migrated to this village in 1950-60 from the nearby Distt. Garhwal and Distt. Almora villages. 

After construction of  some hotels/resorts in the village, this village has become an important village from commercial point of view. As a result there are a number of small shops inside the village as well as alongside the  village road increasing the income of the villagers. Some villagers are working in these resorts and some have opened shops, thus giving employment to the village youths which helped a lot in increasing the economy of the villagers.  Earlier there were no shop in the vicinity of the village and the villagers had to go to Ramnagar for their day-to-day needs. Rich in agricultural products, job opportunities in the village resorts and nearby resorts  has to some extent  helped in restricting the so called "गांव से पलायन" of the village youths of this village. 

A  number of villagers are presently working in Delhi/Chandigarh/Solon and some are working abroad i.e. USA/New Zealand, etc. Though the village is economically sound but it has  a lot of problems i.e. lack of roads/footpath inside the village, flood problems, shortage of water for irrigation, lack of community centre, etc. The village is in dire need of opening an inter college, community centre and a police chowki.
