OverView of Padampura
Fort Padampura was built by Thakur Sahab Padam Singh Ji of Padampura. Padampura was a "Tajim" of erstwhile Jaipur State. Padampura belongs to Kalyanots of Kachwaha Clan. Kalyanots were among the Barah Kotris recognises by Maharaja Prithvi Raj (1502-1527 AD) of Jaipur (being his sons and kinsmen) as a noble house in the peerage of the state and were prominent members of the court. These twelve Kotris or "chambers" of Amber were an honored institution of the state. Kalwad and Padampura are prominent Thikanas of this Kalyanots. For their bravery and chivalry special rights were given to this Tajim.Late Thakur Balwant Singh Ji of Padampura had even imparted training and guardianship to Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II. Military has been tradition of the family whether their own State time army or there after in Indian Army. Late Thakur Maj Sultan Singh Ji was an avid stratigist and hunter who has bagged 47 man-eater tigers in the country and abroad. Kr Adhiraj Singh and Kr Maj Harshwardhan also followed the family military traditions. Thakur Rishi Raj Singh is the present thakur and head of the Padampura Family.
Fort Padampura was strategically located to guard the frontiers of the state. The love for art and art of war can be seen in the true Rajput architecture at Padampura fort. This fort is majorly divided in two parts the Mardana and Janana Chambers. The former one being for male royalty and latter for females. The construction provision of the fort were such that the army could self sustain itself for months. There are seven temples and three water reservoirs in the fort, besides some secret routes which were used during during emergency. Hazari burj, Pir Burj and Mataji burj can prominently recognized from kilometers. The ownership of this fort is with the present Tikai family.
