OverView of Bhadpur
Bahadpur is a very ancient village in the area. The village has senior secondary school . It was originally a primary school opened in around 1929. It became Middle in 1958, It was upgraded to High School in 1970 and Higher Secondary in 2010. Village was almost destroyed in floods in 1960 and many people shifted to far flung areas. Only few families stayed in a small part of land spared in floods. Present population is around 500. Village has a good number of educated people and middle/high ranking officers. Social contacts are strong. Majority of the residents dont have bad habits like drinking, drugs etc.Village is around 100 KMs from Dharamsala and not 38 KMs mentioned above. Chamba is around 150 kms and Kangra is also around 100 kms.Village now falls under Tehsil Indora Disst Kangra. Nearest bus stand is Badukhar -2 Kms away. Before floods, Bahadpur was the major junction.Old respectable people of the village who died before 2000 are S/Shri Balwant Singh, Amin Chand, Brahm Dass, Mehta Karam Chand, Roop Chand, Hari Chand, Des Raj, Atma Ram, Krishan Dev Mehta. Recent loss is of S/Shri Vijay Singh Rana, Billi..etc.Any more additions from a Bahadpuri is welcome.. Ranbir SinghThere was atime till 1975, when the whole village used to dring water from village well . Even the water of river Beas was equally clean ( fortunately, it is still clean... thanks to non-urbanisation of the area). But now the Well (Khoo) has become non-functional. Water supplu has come, hand Pumps have been installed. Nobody uses Well now. Electricity came to village in 1970. Connecting road to village from Badukhar became pucca in 2005. Recemtly in 2014, two buses have also staarted plying from Rey to Indora via Bahadpur.
There were again floods in 1988. ( This is flood prone area) due to heavy untimely rains. It resulted in steep fall in land prices.
