OverView of Nanda Chaur
Nandachaur is the one of the biggest village of Hoshiarpur district came under Bullowal Police station. This village is very old village , before the partition(1947) all hindus, Muslims, Sikhs were living here peacefully. It is situated on Bullowal to Bhogpur road. It is approximately 18 km from Hoshiarpur city. People of the village are wel behaved and nice people. It is also well known village due to Om Darbar Nandachaur which is the holliest place in the area. Every year in the months of June and December two big fairs(Mela) in this village relating to Sant Shri Om Naryan ji and Sant shri Sharda Ram ji took place. This village have almost every communities which are belongs to different castes. There are also other severals Sikh temples(Shri Guru Ravidas temple, Shri Guru Teg Bahudar and Nihanga da dera), Hindu temples(shri Balmiki mandir, thara shaib, Sh. Shiv mandir etc.) There are several Peer Baba's mosques such as Peer baba Sukhay Shah jI and many more. Main occupation of the population of the village is agriculture. Very few people of the village are highly educated. Normal literacy ratio is good. There are 5 schools in the villages(guru Teg bahudar model school, Govt primary School, Govt High school, Sant Shri Sharda Ram Ji School and Harkishan Public School. There is also one college for women name as Sant Sharda Ram degree college. Nandachaur has a big market relating to different things and services. There are approximately 80 shops in the villages. There is only one Hospital and severl other small clinics in the village. Roads and water supply are good in the village. Youngsters are mostly working in different countries such as Dubai, Abu dabi, italy and other Gulf Countries. Some are well settled in European and and american counries. Two three guys settle in Australia as well. At present time mostly youngester are unemployed in the village and wasting there life and time in drugs. There are a lot of local illegal alcohol(sharab) sellers in the village. 2 3 people selling deadly drugs are also living in this village which are destroying this beautiful village's young generation. There is also lack of proper Panchayat in this village. Also one or two Panchs are really good and helpful for the village people. There is also one big playground situated where boys like to play cricket, kabaddi, football and other games.Two three great social workers are also relating to this village who are serving this village people without any profit. At present there is a need to save the village from drugs and illegal sellers of alchol.
