OverView of Mand
Village mand is 09 km from dasuya on dasuya - sansarpur
road,in hoshiarpur district. Its cordinates are 31 degree 32 min north
and 75 degree 55 min east. Its elevation is 296 meters. Its post office
is mand pandher- 144207. The origion of this village is around 275 years old.
The whole area was a jungle. The elders of this village came from sarali mand,
distt tarn taran as per revenue records. The first person was sabha from
sarali mand. Present whole jat sikh mand community of this village is from the
family of sabha. In this village other than mands jat sikhs there are garchas
who came to this village around 150 years ago. Shri ghaseeta father of shri
amar singh gave fifty percent of his land to garchas for their survival. The
total land of this village is 111 hectares. There is a guruduara and govt
anganvari school in the village. Adjoining village is teli chak which is
be chirag now after muslims migration to pakistan. Teli chak land is
distributed to the farmers of adjoining villages. Govt school till twelth class
is at teli chak which is less tha 01 km from v. Mand. Govt hospital is
approximately 1.5 km on the dasuya - sansarpur road from village.
In addition to jat sikhs there are tarkhans and harijans in the village.every
family has mango groves which are on extinction now. Every year village
organise a chhinj in the village. Part of mand family is shifted to v. Gag
sultan (06 km from dasuya) and up.
Mand jat sikhs are in 26 villages namely v. Mand, gag sultan, bilaspur, patti(bohon) in hoshiarpur distt, v. Sarali mand, tanda, sarali khurad & thakarpura in tarn taran distt, v. Bhutta,lohat baddi, doraha,lopon in ludhiana distt, v. Hirdapur & ram garh in ropar ditt, v. Dabbanwali & mand in gurdaspur distt, v. Mand & mand mour in jalandhar distt, v. Mehtan in kapurthala distt, v. Boothgarh, balongi in mohali distt. In addition mand jat sikhs are in chandigarh,mohali, zirakhpur,panchkula, patiala,dera bassi & amritsar city. Mands' are also in v. Mehra & mustabad in kurukshetra (haryana) and also in gurgaon city.
All the mand jat sikhs from all the vllages were called at v. Mand (hoshiarpur) for mand meet on 30 dec 2013 for sharing the mand history and a memorial stone for this memory is laid on this day next to village guruduara.
