OverView of Jarakhar
Jarakhar is among one of the biggest villages in Gohand, Rath. Thakur Omkar Singh happened to be the Zamidar of the village during British Raj, who later donated most of his Zamidari to Acharya Vinoba Bhave's Bhudan Yagna, which was redistributed among the landless people. However his descendants including his two sons, Thakur Devendra Vir Singh and Dharmendra Vir Singh migrated to Rath and Bhatani (Disstt Mainpuri) respectively. Now only remains of his Haveli are there.
Jarakhar is dominated by Lodhi Rajputs, who are primarily agriculturists and have prospered a lot with their dedicated hard work, over a period of time. There is a High School, two bank branches in the village. There is a big village pond, which has since been transformed in to a lake by the Government. Jarakhar has got an ancient Devi Temple beside this lake, which is known for it's siddh devi.
The village had a very low literacy level just 20 years back but now the literacy is as high as > 80% with little inter gender difference.
Major crops are Wheat, Gram and Masoor with Lentil, Peas and Sesame. Jarakhar is now well connected with Jhansi, Hamirpur, Kanpur etc through all season moterable road.
