OverView of Cherlagudipadu
There is a famous temple in the village. Sri Venugopala Swamy Temple constructed by Cholas, which was renovated in 1936 by Sri Boddu Ramakrishnaiah and his wife Smt. Boddu Raghavamma. and every year doing festivals grandly once upon 1543 srikrishna devaraya visited to cherlagudipadu and gave ornaments to god.Since 1799 some of VEMULA families came to cherlagudipadu from vemulawada. vemua raja rao bhadur venkatadri rayudu is the assistant in prolaya vema reddy jamin due to families VEMULA families came to cherlagudipadu and create a small king Dom rule the cherlagudipadu. how ever real venugopala swamy came to our village to justice to poor brahmin in bikshu. In 1842 one of VEMULA family member VEMULA Chinna pitchaiah (pedakapu garu) gave 200 acres to this temple and his brother VEMULA ramaiah and his son VEMULA brammanna Dora consructed utla stambulu for the reality of equality four pillars they describe justice, honour, equality, dhamramam .as this follows in 1965 VEMULA chinnapitchaih varasulu renovated and re constructed. There was a poleramma temple constructed by VEMULA rao bhadur peda kittaiah in 1895 for the safe of village and ankalamma temple constructed by VEMULA venkaiah elder son VEMULA rao bhadur raja gopala rao chowdary in 1945 before independence some of freedom fighters belong to cherlagudipadu and has 23 temples in this village. once upon a time cholas, jamindars, bhupatis, in 17 the century cherlagudipadu was not a village its a small capital of ruled jamindars of VEMULA vamsam.
చర్లగుడిపాడు అనేది ఒక చిన్న గ్రామం. చర్లగుడిపాడుకి చాలా చరిత్ర ఉంది. చర్లగుడిపాడు లో ఎక్కువ గా ఆలయాలు ఉన్నాయి. చర్లగుడిపాడు లో ముఖ్యమైంది సాక్షి వేణుగోపాల స్వామి దేవాలయం. ఈ ఆలయం పురాతనమైంది.ఈ ఆలయానికి చోళ రాజులు ఇచ్చిన మాన్యాలు, వేముల వారు ఇచ్చిన మాన్యాలు ఉన్నాయి. చర్లగుడిపాడు లో కూడా జామిందార్లు ఉన్నారు. వారే వేముల వంశస్థులు. వేముల వారివి 100 కుటుంబాలు ఉన్నాయి.
వేముల వారు పూర్వం రాయలసీమ నుంచి వలస వచ్చారు. సుమారు పల్నాటి యుద్ధం కాలం లో అంటే కి. శ 1250 లో రాయలసీమ నుంచి వచ్చి చర్లగుడిపాడు లో పడమర దిక్కు నా గోవులు ని మేపుతూ ఉంటే అక్కడ ఒక లోయ కనపడింది. ఆ లోయలోకి వెళ్లి చూడగా మట్టి కుండలు ఉన్నాయి. ఒక 4 అన్నదమ్ములు ఆ కుండలు ను వెలికి తీసి, దాని లో నిది ఉంది అని గ్రహించారు కానీ దాని లో నిది లేదు. గ్రామదేవతల యొక్క దేవర అను ఉన్నాయి. వారు వెంటనే వాటిని చూసి భయబ్రాంతులకు లోను అయ్యి గోవులు, గేదలు, ఎద్దులు తోలుకొని చర్లగుడిపాడు పురావిదులోకి ప్రవేచించారు. పల్నాటి యుద్ధ కాలం అది, అప్పుడు చర్లగుడిపాడు లో జన నివాసం లేదు. అప్పుడు అడవి లా ఉంది, వేముల అన్నదమ్ములు లో ముచ్చటించుకున్నారు. అన్నలు మనం ఈ ఊరిలో లో నే ఉన్నదాం అని ఉత్తరం దిక్కున ఆ రోజు రాత్రి వాళ్ళు అక్కడే నిద్రపోయారు. తెల్లారేసరికి గోవులు, ఎద్దులు, గేదలు కనపడలేదు, వాటిని వెతుకుంటూ అడివి వైపు వెళ్తే అవి అక్కడ ఉన్నాయి. వాటిని తోలుతూ ఉంటే కదలట్లేదు.కుండ లో దేవర లు బయటికి వచ్చి, 5 గురు అన్నదమ్ములు ని ఊరి మధ్యలోకి తరిమి వాళ్ళని ఇబ్బంది పెట్టాయి. అపుడు వాళ్ళు చేసిన తప్పు తెలుసుకొని వేణుగోపాల స్వామి గుడిలో దాకున్నారు. అప్పుడు అన్నదమ్ములు వాళ్ళకి మొక్కి తప్పు తప్పు అన్నారు. మీరు ఇక్కడే నివాసం చేసుకోండి ఉన్న నాలుగు దిక్కులో దక్షణం వైపు వెళ్ళకండి. ఇక్కడ నుంచి -ఇక్కడికి మీ పురం, హద్దు అని చెప్పి మాయమాయ్యియి. వేముల అన్నదమ్ములు 5 గురు నేరుగా పడమర వైపు వెళ్లి అక్కడ వ్యవసాయం చేస్తూ, పంటలు పండి ఇస్తూ వందల ఎకరాలు సాగుచేసి, వంద ఎకరాలు సంపాదించి జామిందార్లు గా క్యాతి పొందారు. బ్రిటిష్ వారి దెగ్గర దివాన్ లు సేవలు అందించారు. చివరికి 18 వ శతబ్దం లో కూడా వేముల వారి కీర్తి ప్రతిష్ట లు పెరగయి. 1880 వ సంవత్సరము లో వేముల వంశనికి చెందిన వేముల రామయ్య -అక్కమ్మ గార్ల కుమార్లు

వేముల వెంకయ్య -వేముల చిన పిచ్చయ్య గారు ఒకసారి వేణుగోపాలస్వామి గుడి దెగ్గర నుంచి వెళ్తున్న వారికీ దైవ స్వరూపం కనిపించినట్లు గా నిద్ర లో ఆలాపన వచ్చింది. నాకు ఉట్టు కోటటానికి ఉట్లాస్తంబాలు లేవు అని సాక్షి వేణుగోపాలస్వమి వచ్చి చెప్పాడు. ఇక ఆయన, అయన సోదరులు కలిసి ఊటస్తంబాలు నిర్మాణం చేసి ఆలయానికి బహుకరించడం జరిగింది.
వేముల వెంకయ్య, వేముల చిన పిచ్చయ్య హయం లో వేముల వారి కులాదైవం పోలేరమ్మ తిరునాళ్ళు కు వేముల వెంకయ్య, వేముల చిన పిచ్చయ్య వీళ్ళే ఆలయానికి పునాది రాళ్లు. తర్వాత కొన్ని కారణాలు వలన వేముల చిన పిచ్చయ్య తన పిన్నమ్మ ఆదేశాలు మేరకు వేముల సిద్దయ్య, అతని కుమార్డు వేముల పెద కిట్టయ్య ని కూడా పోలేరమ్మ ఆలయానికి ధర్మకర్త, పెదకాపు ని చెయ్యటం జరిగింది. వేముల చిన పిచ్చయ్య మరణంతరం.
