OverView of Kholmun
Kholmun village is situated in the district of Churachandpur, Manipur. The village earlier it was called Kolmun (KOL- in Thadou-Kuki meaning HINDI People, MUN mean Place) where there is no Hindi people, the elders of the Haokip clan have changed into KHOLMUN in 1991, meaning �place of gathering.� The village was founded by five brothers, 1. Pu. Helkho Haokip, 2. Pu. Tongot Haokip, 3. Pu Janglhun (also known as Jangkeng) 4. Pu. Tongneh Haokip and 5. Pu Tongkhai in 1950.
The village is headed by chief, and village authority. Under that there are different departments they are Youth Club and Village Defense Organization. The Christianity enter to the village in the year 1952, and now 100% are protestant evangelical Christian. And in 2002, the Kholmun Village celebrated their 50th years of Christianity.
Now, Khomun become a key place for the Haokip clan and even for the society. The Kholmun is also famous in organizing Games and sport, there were different tournament use to be held in the village every years.
