Chowluru is a village in parasurampura hobli, challakere taluk, Chitradurga district in the state of Karnataka, India.
As of 2001 India census, village had its own image amongest 52 villages under parasumpaura hobli. The village is divided into two parts for smooth administration, one PART is chowlur under this Mallajji Kapile is its hamlet and chowlur kaval is the another part under this three important hamlets are Jagajeevanram Colony, Lakshminarasimha Colony and Basaveswara Colony are being covers area for about 1380.32 + 899.90 = 2280.22 hectares.
The chowluru is also a place of the beautiful temple of Lord Veerabhadra Swamy. The Jaathre of the lord Veerabhadra Swamy occurs every year at the end of DECEMBER. The turnout for the Jaathre is huge and local people called that jaathre is KARTHIKA MAHOTSAVA. The village having so many temples like THIMMAPPA TEMPLE, DURUGAMMA TEMPLE and ANJANEYA TEMPLE near the river bank of vedavathi which is running border of village. There is also a bridge for this river which is very good picnic spot in the village.
The CHURCH is also there in choulur, which belongs to Vishwa Vani organisation so many people are following and praising LORD JESUS CHRIST and celebrating occasions such as CHRISTMASS and GOOD FRIDAY and famous Radhaswamy Mata is located in Basaveswara Colony and has become a shelter for many worshippers. It encourages people in both spiritual and social development. The tiny place has a attracted many followers from across district. Dasara, marikamba festival, Deepavali AND Ugadi are the major celebrations. A sacred place one must visit and get the blessings of lord veerabhadraswamy.
Chowluru is also known for its largest supplier of fire woods to different cities in the district and other districts too (Bangalore).
Chowluru is also a famous for kambali (woven blankets) made by the local Kuruba people. It is important village for the Challakere taluk for kambali bussiness and also it helps in sending to various markets across India.
