Pangi is the remotest but the most beautiful valley of Chamba. It lies between Pir Panjal and Zanskar ranges of himalaya. It is unique in its grandeur and scenic beauty. Nature is in its wildest and grandest form. everthing is in its stupendious scale. River Chanderbhaga rolls along in  a deep and narow gorge, lashing it into fury, sandwiched in bwtween adamantine cliffs that confine it.Precepices spring from the brink in places almost perpenducular to the height of 1000 to 2000 feet. It passess though the whole length of Pangi Valley. It rises from Baralacha Pass in Lahaul in two streams Chandera and Bhaga which meets into one at Tandi.Killar is headquarter of Pangi sub divsion. Chanerbhaga is also called chinab becuase earlier it is supposed flowing from China so word chin-ab chin for china an ab for water bccome Chinab.It is cut off completely during winnter and spring seasons and remain seculeded for 6 to 8 months and . during late summer and rainy season access is provided through various passess. Sach pass was once the only connection of Pangi with the rest of world which remained closed for almost 7 to 8 months in a year due to heavy snow fass. It was so much seculded that as a part of formerly princely State of Chamba, official posted to Pangi were given funeral allowance There are beautiful valleys within Pangi regions like Sural, Hundan Saichu and Sechu and Kumar-Parmar. People of Pangi are mainly Hindu while some follow Budhism. they are Bhoties with mongoliad fetures. Main tribe of Pangi is Pangwal and these tough peopole have the unique customs, traditions and institutions . These Pangwal and Bhots are robust and handsome and keep the culture alive in their folk songs music and tribal  dances.When the valley is locked from all sides durting winter aerial route is the only means to travel. Pangi valley is now connected by road from Chamba via Sach Pass 4415 meter in height from mean sea level and from Manali via Rohtang Pass 4116 meter Valley is almsot 1600 square km surrounded by mountans ranging between 5400 to 6500 meteres height. Pangi is thickly forested and among others have pine oak and deodar and low slopes are full of green grass pastures. pangi valley is sparersly populated and only 18000 people live in this valley. the origin of Pangwal is not known but it is said during an invasion women were escorted to this area and they were unable to return and lived there while some said people of Pangi were criminal and were banished from Chamba Darbar. Almost everyone is connected with agriculture and live stock. Jukaru is major festival of pangi celeberated in Feburary.Music dance and localy brewed liquor Patar play significant role in Pangwals life.Pangi is trekkers pardise and many trekkers come here to walk from Pangi to Keylong in Lahaul Spiti and to Kishtwar in Jammur and kashmir. the best to visti Pangi is between June to Octobe. Once famous historia doctor and traveller  Dr Johan Hutchinson who lived in Chamba had said of the secluded  placee himachal still holds "there has been no secret better known" than Pangi valley in the district of Chamba. the women of pangi are so beautiful that they are like fairies and enchanting  so that it is considered outsider men forget their own families and even get ready to live there whole life in Pangi. They r considered like witches by the women of rest of Chamba and world as they can turn men into a male sheep.So fear to send their husbands to Pangi. There are stories many who went to Pangi never returned or retuned after 20 to 30 years. But it does not mean they actualy make them ram i but actual men get snared into their hevenly beauty and lost their sense and work for them like their own families. And yes the girls of Pangi dont leave their valley if some one has to marry  a girl in Pangi he will have to live in Pangi and forget his own country and promise them not to leave Pangi
