OverView of Khanoda

Khanora is a rajput village of chambyal clan and  ancesstors of this village were sent by chamba king perhaps during 1800AD to control self independent thakuras and ranas to bring lower area of Beas valley under control of chamba king they fought a valiant fight with self  indepanedent thakuras and ranas of thakurai and then given some of the won land and villages by king as gift and made to settle there   to keep this whole area under the control of Chamba and to curb any rebellion if happend anytime many of all ancestors serve either in kings army some in british army and  now present generation  in indain army almost 95 percent males joined army only recently they joined some other professions also. Earlier forfather of this village used to live in Bhandal Kihar near border of Jammu and Chamba some 200 km from main Chamba town and their young male children serve in Chamba State army during that period Chamba kingdom was only confined upto Bharmour and chamba valley only and this Bhattiyat region was being ruled by some self small independent thakuras and ranas who were some time only ruler of a single village of may be ruler of some group of 5 to 15 villages so later on Chamba king expanded his boundries down to across ravi upto Rihlu and Rait area towards Kangra and upto Bsohali in Jammu by continued fighting and campaigns against small petty chiefs of these areas and eariler resident of khanora village were part of such campaings of King and in this way khanora village come in to existance. It is situated between two small streams naming Chulhan and Ganed on a flat platueau and only village with only residents of only one clan and having no other community living in it. it is 910 meter above sea level and surrounded by hills all side except south where lies a small piece of almost 300 acre of fertile land irrigated by water chennels taken from Ganed and chulhan streams. population of this village is around 350 and about 65 family live here in houses made of stone and bricks and covered with slates while few houses are also made of rcc and modern styles. this village is linked with main road by a link road and have electricity suply since 1960 ad and water supply general with few taps since 1970 while a tap to each house is provided since 1985. There are four hill top peaks around it one in east clled Devi ka Marh and second in north of each is called Ghori ke Barh and then 3rd in west is called Kunjar Mahadev while a small peak in front of it is called thona while another one in south west is called chhontlu while one can also see snowy range of dahuladhar in easter most part which called here as Nadali ke dhar which is only hardly 2 km in areal distance while my be 12 kms in foot path distance. and in between lies the two most beautyful hars means flat pieches of land where paddy fields lies they are called samote da har and sihunte da har
