Kamala village is famous for its Basmati a variety or a type of rice with a very attrative scent and tasty. It is said during time of state or kingdom Basmati rice grown in Kamala was sent to Chamba King and King and his family member eat Basmati rice only grown and taken from Kamala. There are fields of small size sliding down from Kamala to the bank of Dehar Khadd and they are not fields long and broad like in plain valley but are sliding down ward in rows and looks like long steps each one on another. Kamla is not village of single cast but it is multi casts village and people belonging to many different casts live here harmonyously. But majority of inhabitants of Kamla belong to Zheer cast who are professional fishermen and they do fishing with nets in small and big streams around it there are two more small streams near Kamla except Dehar Khadd. There is only one primary School in Kamala. the main occupation of people of Kamala is agriculture and they grow mainly paddy and maize and wheat crops also.this vill led chipko movement in hp in 1980's.Edit below overview about Kamala
