OverView of Bhattiyat

there is no village named bhattiyat, bhattiyat is name given to  whole area of Tehsil chowari consisting of more than 58 panchayats and having its Tehsil Headquarter an Chowari Town. So actual name of this Town is Chowari but assembly consituaancy is named Bhattiyat and Bhattiyat name is given to this whole area during Princely State of Chamba. chowari is the only Muncipal committee in Bhattiyat, Now chowari is Made Sub divsion and there is situated the Office of  Sub Divisional Magistrate. So whole the seceretarate of Sub divsion is in Chowari. there is also a single college in whole Bhattiyat opened in 1984. It is very sad that nothing is written or known about this old wazart of Chamba State and it remained out of sight of all the rulers or historian although it was the rice bowl of Chamba. Even to this date there is very less information about this area even and it is only mentioned as a fifth Wazart or teshsil or constituency of Chamba. I feel it was completely neglected during princely time becuase it was the last and fartherst from Chamba and there was no any moterable road and all the tourists and travellers attractions were limited to only Dalhousies Chamba and upto Bharmour. Even this neglect is continued till now except few exception becuase all the distt leaders or ministers also hailed from Chamba and State leadership is also ignorant or careless about this area. You can imagine that even remotest corner of HP like Pangi, Lahaul Spiti and Kinnaur have been developed or got attention of but Bhattiyat is unfortunately forgotten even distt administration has never cared for even to advetise or say about the beauty and greenary or about developing this area as attraction of tourists. Even after independecnce most of Member of Bhttiyat Constituency were from Chamba and they only got votes and forgot people and no true representation to Bhattiyat in State Assembly has yet met except two or three times. Only Bhattiyat has beauiful plain few valleys in whole Chamba District where fertile irrigated land is available to grow basmati rice and other kind of rice also. While whole the other parts of Chamba district are highly mountainous Bhattiyat is blessed with best of fertile plain hars (long and broad plain pieces of irrigated fertile land) namely Chowari ka har Gundlu da har Samote da har and Sihunte da har and khargate da har garnota da har and so on. The most of people of Bhattiyat are living on sliding valleys and dales build by sliding ridges from different high peaks of Dhauladhar range extending from Dharamsala to Dalhousie almost more than 150 kms long and having as many as more than 50 high and low peaks and also dozen of on foot passes across this inner himalayan range and also having more than 2 dozens of small and big perrinial streams all being tributories of Beas river except few which drains into ravi river. the main big streams are Baner Gaje, Brahal, Dehar, Chakki which themselves are made of may small tributories. Then few villages are situated on the north side of second shivalik range running almost parlell to Dhauladhar from Brahal stream near Dramman and upto Bakloh Kakira namely Hathidhar. This range is not so high and below snow line there is dearth of drinking water and also no streams of water flow except few seasonal ones and it is also entirely diffrent from Dhauladhar which is always having snow covered peak all through the year. Hathidhar also make boundry of Bhattiyat with Nurpur and Dehra area of Kangra but life on slopes Hathidhar is very difficult because of water scarcety while because of steep and high rugged hills and deep gordges and ravines and terrain is unfit for living except few areas.
