OverView of Thular

During the so-called Cretaceous Period, 10 million years ago, the village must have looked like a densely wooded forest.  Fragments of some of those trees, which turned into stone trees, were discovered by historian advocate Sasikumar and kept in a museum in Varanasi, Ariyalur district.  So it is clear that this village may have once been a dense forest.

There is ample historical evidence that early humans lived in this village about 10,000 years ago.  Especially mudhu makkal thazhi had been available the in Pudu Aeri,   Based on these sources, it can be known here place the abode of primitive humans was in this place.  The old age belonging to this  is Stone Age people.  It is revealed that these Stone Age people may have spread out from the present Muniappan Temple to Marungur colony.  It is known that a small stream flowing through the Muniappan temple front may have once been a great river.  The people who lived on the banks of the river are the old neo lithic people who are found in Pudu lake.Ariyalur College of Arts Historian L. Thiagarajan and his student Ravichandran and advocate Sasikumar have researched the village and the weapons used by Palam Stone Age people.  Clues about the location have been captured at a place called palla kolla vari  Also, at a place called New Lake, the remains of food items used by the people of that time have been captured inside the mudhu makkal pot.  Due to their efforts, the place where old people's mudhu makkal  can be found in Pudu Lake has been declared as a protected area by the Ariyalur district administration chief.

The present village of  thular was under the dominion of the Pillaimars.  Hence the village  name of the thularudaiya Goththara name of the Pillaimars, is called  the present Thular.also same pillai's is marungudaiya gotharam for calle marungur village

No historical traces of this village are found before the Chola period.  During the Chola period this village was known as Vijayalaya Cholapuram.  This Vijayalaya Cholapuram is a village that includes the present-day South Street and the southern side of the karuppu samy temple in  pomudaiyankudikkadu village.  There are reports that Rajendra Chola married Ananthanayaki who belonged to this village but no historical documents are available.A section of people who were close to the king's residence and minister's residence during the Chola period were called Nayanars.  It is noteworthy that these Nainars were the majority residents of Vidyalayapuram.  It seems that this Vijayalayapuram must have been destroyed in the war between the Cholas and the Pandyas and the people who left the town at that time may have been the residents of the present village of thular.

long year ago our viilage name was vijayalapuram.here have siva temple this is also old  temple , the lord shiva found from lake fond. our village is a beautiful, her have many trees around the lake, the lake is middle of a viilage.thular inside have many small villages (marungor ann poomudaiyankudikadu),new lord shiva temple have kalyana mandapam.

There are pioneer Engineer Shanmugham alais Bala who hailed from this village south Street, served for the Nation in building Many Pilots,Aeronautical engineers for Indian Navy.

Many former teachers Kuppusamy, Maniyan, Namasivayam & Woman Social former worker Ms.Tamilarasi hailed from this thular village.Leading Social Workers like Selvarasu,Kulanchinathan, Paramasivam are shining in the Ariyalur District level politics.

There is big lake in this Area. People are of so innocent.and the cultivation based on cashew crop.
