Sikkim, a state in India, constitutes of four administrative districts, out of which West Sikkim is one. Geyzing, also known as Gyalshing, is the capital city of the district. The high altitude of the region is preferred and a pet choice for the trekkers. Pelling and Jorethang are the other significant towns in this district. 1166 sq. kilometers of land is covered by the district of West Sikkim. Khecheoperi Lake is another spot, which draws tourists and visitors. It was not permitted that even a single leaf would drop on the lakes surface, according what the myth says. The first monastery established in Sikkim named the Dubdi Monastery is also a popular visiting place.
West Sikkim History
Yuksom was the vey old capital of West Sikkim. From the initial years in 1642, for a time period of 50 years, Yuksom remained a capital. After that the capital got relocated to Rabtense. During the 18th and 19th centuries, the Nepalese captured and governed over this region. Sikkim was given back this territory following the Gorkha War.
