Krishnagiri is the district in the state of Tamil Nadu where the e-Governance was first introduced under the National e-Governance Project in Revenue, Social Welfare departments on a pilot basis. Krishnagiri city is the headquarters. It is one of the largest mangos producing state in India. It is around 90 km from Bangalore and 45 km from Hosur. Krishnagiri is an emerging business and residential area and the fresh ground water makes this land so fertile. At present, the Krishnagiri Dam is under expansion and there are many variety of small scale industries are blooming in Krishnagiri.

Krishnagiri History

Krishnagiri was a part of Dharmapuri district until 2004. After considering the steady growth of significant features and continuously expanding population, the district was separated from Dharmapuri district and came into effect as 30th district of Tamil Nadu on February 9, 2004.

Krishnagiri Climate

The region is basically hilly and mounanious terrain. The land is drained by South Pennar River. It distinct climatic conditions in east and west. The eastern part is hot whereas the western part is pleasant and cool. March to June is summer and July to November is monsoon. Winter starts in December and ends in February. The average rainfall is 830 mm per annum.
