Kanshi Ram Nagar is a district in the state of Uttar Pradesh. It forms part of the Aligarh division. The Tehsils of Kasganj, Patiali and Sahawar constitute the district. The district headquarters are situated at Kasganj. Mr. Ratan Kumar Srivastava of the Indian Police Service is currently the Superintendent of Police of Kanshi Ram Nagar. On April 15, 2008, the district came into force by combining Kasganj, Patiali and Sahawar Tehsils from the Etah district. The district derives its name from a politician named Kanshi Ram. The name was a major issue. The lawyers protested the name which was devised by Mayawati and asked to name it Sant Tulsidas as this is his birthplace. Adjacent districts of Kanshiram Nagar are Etah, Aligarh, Mahamaya Nagar better known as Hathras, Badaun and Farukhabad.
Aligarh division has 4 divisions out of which this is a new district. Kanshi Ram Nagar is surrounded by Farrukhabad on the east, Aligarh on west, Etah on the north and Badaun on the south. A total of 10 police stations are present in the district. The River Kali is a prominent geographical feature. The river originates in Doon Valley and merges with Hindon River in Ghaziabad which subsequently merges with holy river Yamuna. Two canals are made from the river and pass over it in the form of two bridges. Many curious onlookers are attracted to this modern civil architecture. This place can turn into a good tourist spot if proper facilities are provided. The canals prevent the region from getting flooded as excess water from the river can be pumped into the canals. The land has rich alluvium and the water table is low. It is very suitable for agriculture.
