Chamarajanagara is the Southern most district in Karnataka, India. It took birth out of the original bigger Mysore district in the year 1998. This town is the headquarters of this district and third less populated district in Karnataka just after Kodagu and the Bangalore Rural. It was named subsequent to Chamaraja Wodeyar IX, King of Mysore, who was born in this town. It is also one of the suboptimally developed towns in the state of Karnataka, despite it being located on the interstate that links the Kerala.
Chamarajanagar History
Chamarajanagar was previously identified as Arikottara. Chamaraja Wodeyar, the Wodeyar king of Mysore was born in this town and so this place was renamed after him. The Vijaya Parsvanath Basadi, a holy Jain temple was constructed by Punisadandanayaka, the commander of the Hoysala king Gangaraja in the year 1117 A.D.
