It was said that Matli Anantha rayalu was the first ruler from the new fort. While constructing the new fort they checked up the safety of the fort. They kept a cannon on a hillock at about 2 KM from this fort and fired the cannon and they ensured that the final end of the fort be beyond half a KM from the place where the cannon fire had fallen. This hillock is called phirangi gutta. Later on this fort is said to have come under the rule of Tippusulthan and the palegar was shifted to Chitvel kingdom and the fort at Yerraguntla kota was abandoned.
When the ruling came into existence at this new fort local people were appointed to administer. Even now there families with surnames after their positions in the then administration.They are Reddy(Zamindari), Beegala( key holders), Kottidi(Godown), Bokkasam( treasury), Dandu( Army), Dalavayi(Commandant of army),Bhandaru(Store),Boyina, Chitti boyina, Peddaboyina.etc( palanquin bearers).
The village is surrounded by seshachalam hills. Gundala kona a holy place with Gundaleeswra swami as the deity is located at a distance of about 16 Km. from the village in the midst of the forest in these hills.This is a cave temple and is said to be Agasthya prathishta. The deity here is called Gundaleesvara svami.
Another cave by the side of Siva's cave contain Hanuman's idol consecrated by Tallapaka pedda Thirumalaiah son of Annamacharya in the year 1459 saka era corresponding to 1538AD. A siva temple constructed in the year 1815 has been renovated once in 1964 and recently in the year 2019. The deity is called Neelakantesvara svami. New Siva linga , Vigneswara, Subrahmanya, and navagrahas, were consecrated in 2019 at this temple and Kalasas were provided to the gopuras. Anjaneya swami temple constructed, while constructing the new fort exists at the entrance of the kotha kota.
Thirugudu palle is a hamlet of this village.Recently a broken idol of Chennakesava svami was found in the fields of this hamlet while tilling. This idol is now available in the temple of Neelakantesvara svami at Y. Kota.
