On top of a hill at an altitude 1650 mtr in a beautiful place the famous temple of Goddess Ma Shyam Sundari (Durga)is located. The Shakti Peeth is surrounded by a dense Oak (quercus incana) jungle. From this top one can have a panoramic view of the Greater Himalayas from Bandarpunch to Mount Nanda Devi.The priest of the temple are from Village Banchuri and Rikheda. The Shaktipeeth temple is also known as "RIKHEDA-BANCHURI KI DEVI". On every Ashtami of the Sharadiya Navratra a big Pooja as well as a fair is organised here and Buffallo bull and he Goats are sacrificed at this sacred place. Thousands of the people from the nearby villages as well as from the cities collects here. This is a pity that in the 21st century when most of the famous places the sacrifice is banned still at this place it is going on.This is very Powerful place and the vibration of energy flow can be feeled after reaching this place.
