Village Zainapora is one of the most important villages of Shopian district. It is called the village of springs, given the fact that there are large number of springs in the village, whose water is used not only by its own inhabitants but people from other adjacent villages as well. The village has a rich history of communal harmony and peace. Despite the exodus of Pandits from the valley, there are still many Pandit families left, and they are living with the Muslim brethren, happily. Recently, the village got the status of Sub-district following a major overhauling and creation of new administrative units in the state of J&K. The village is famous for the Horticulture department, which has second largest orchids under cultivation in Asia.

The village has also got a Sub-district hospital, where people from different villages get their treatment.

As history goes, the village got its name from the great medieval period king, Zainul Abdeen, who used to visit a Sufi saint living in the village.
