Dhavadwadi is a village in Atpadi Taluka in Sangli district.Hindi language is mainly spoken in the the village. However, the usage of 'Dhavadi' language (a dialect of hindi) is also seen prominently in the region. The caste of people residing in dhavadwadi is 'Dhavad'. Most people are former.

At the foot of pratapgad near mahabaleshwar, rustam jamal (also referred to as-rustam-e-jamal) created an Iron-clad Tiger nail for Shivaji Maharaj's fight in the war in the year 1949.

Rustam jamal lived with his family in the Mahabaleshwar and Pratapgad area. He and his community's business used to be to collect minerals and dissolve them in large clay molds, disintegrating pure iron and making daily use utensils, tools and weapons. As their community grew, they began to migrate to other regions in search of minerals as their lives thrived on their skills of smelting or smithing. At that time Raja -Maharajs granted him some land. These people, then migrated from Konkan, Pratapad or mahabaleshwar hilly areas to Parj Bijapur to hyderabad as per business. Pre-independence these people were known to be called by their profession.

The run-d people were scattered and settled in many places, mainly in maharashtra. All the people seen in it were of the Muslim caste but after that some people of other religions also joined in the business. According to the business, the name of their village was runadwadi. Therefore, in maharashtra, the names of three or more villages are runadwadi.
