Kodukkur has got an superb temple known for its calm and peace. The main deities of the temple are Kanakavalli Nayika Sametha Lakshmi Narayana Perumal with Urchvar Sridevi, Boodevi sametha Srinivasa Perumal. It is one of three known temples where Goddess Mahalakshmi reside in the name of Kanakavalli. The other two are in SingiriKoil near Cuddalore TN and Thiruvallur Veeraraghava Perumal temple. The temple annual Bramotsavam happens during Chitra Pournami time. Thivakkarai, the famous Kali temple is situated 2KM North to this temple. In olden days both the deities from Thiruvakkarai and Kodukkur will be brought into the banks of River Sankarabarani (the Gingee river) on Tamil month Thai 5th day for theerthavari festival. Sankarabarani river actually seperates these two villages making them lie South and North to each other.
