This village was called VALAYADU before and named to RAJAGOPALAPURAM. Overall holding 60 veli (400Acres) of land

It was administer by Uthrathy mutt and later own by people living in the village

During 70's and 80s, there were major changes in the village by the panchayat administer by V. Thangaraju Vandayar from 1972 to 1985. He constructed lots of canal bridges and wider roads  to increase infrastructure. He was the first one to built river bridge in the pamani River between Kurich village and Rajagopalapuram which helps school students, publics and agriculture
