Nachanwel is a small town with a population of about 3000. Well-known as an educational hub, the village boasts of successful alumni in different fields working successfully all over the world. Ashok Thorat, Namdeo Jadhav, Suresh Pimple, Sakharam Thorat, Dhanashree Thorat, Digambar Gadekar, Anil Bhapkar and Gajanan Pimple are among the well-known people who have made a mark in their own fields. In the earlier generation, people like Rajaram Thorat, Munshi Saheb, Balkrushna Shinde and Rangnath Thorat were known all over the district of Aurangabad. In addition to these stalwarts, the present political leadership of people like Vitthalanna Thorat, Shivaji Thorat and Sanjeev Pimple have contributed substantially in shaping the infrastructure, economy, polity and culture of this village. Though located in a drought-prone area of Marathwada, the town has maintained its cultural uniqueness and social cohesiveness. The religious places like Dhareshwar and Bhikanshawali Darga attract devotees from all over the district. The event of Bhandara, normally at the end of August every year, pulls 15-20 thousand people together and is marked by several socio-cultural programs with Hindus and Muslims participating with equal enthusiasm. Even otherwise and for several reasons, this village attracts, on daily basis, a huge number of people from the neighboring villages. The village also plays an important role in shaping the politics of the district of Aurangabad. The town is changing along with the times and is likely to emerge as a business hub in the near future. The youth is getting mobile, techno-saavy and networked. Its strategic location (at the 'T' point among Aurangabad, Kannad and Sillod) and a good number of enterprising people are the USPs that this village can boast of. Considering its history and the present dynamics, Nachenwel seems to be developing a potential for emerging into a cultural center in Aurangabad District.
