Bodhendra Saraswathi Swamigal(1586-1638 AD)Who was 58 th acharya of Kanchi Mutt and he was Guru of Shri Bodhendra of govindapuram.he is from Virudachalam Near Vilupuram South arcot District . His Pre sanyasa name was Visvesvara.He toured extensively and stayed at Kasi(Varanasi) for a long time. During that period he wrote Bhayam for Maha Rudram. It was Atma Bodhendral that directed Sadasiva Brahmendra to write the Gururatna Malika. Sri Atma Bodendral returned from Kashi to Kanchi, to complete Kashi Yatra in the traditional manner, he left for Rameswaram with Sri Bodendral. On the way, near Villupuram, in VadaVambalam village, Sri Atma Bodendral passed away, chanting SadaSivom SadaSivom.He attained mukti on the banks of the river South Pinakini, known in Tamil as Thenn Pennai on Krishna Ashtami in the month of Tula of the cyclic year Eswara (1638 AD).His pontificate was for 52 years.This adhishtanam was located by Mahaperiyavaa himself.The place was dug on his instructions , during the process public people found one Skull with mud.At that same time Kumaramangalam Sambamoorthy sastry who dug the place fainted. Later he said he saw a huge sanyasin ;in front of him pandits were chanting mantras.Then this piece of land was donated to mutt by its owners and the adhishtanam was constructed and whole construction was supervised by Mr. C. Chandraskera Rediyar.After constructed the Brindhavan and Kumbabhishekam was on 1927 Jan 17 with presence of Mahaswamigal.
