Dummi is one of the historical places of Karnataka having a mythological background. It was a sacred place at the time of Mahabharata. It was a place where Maharishi doumya penetrated here. There is hill near the village and there is a cave which is believed that Saint Doumya stayed. Now this is the abode of Goddess Kenchamma.There are plenty of temples in and around Dummi. Among them Veerbhadraswamy temple, Anjaneya temple, two Eshwar temples, Basavanna temple, Godess temple and many others. Lord Ganesha Idol is erected in the school premises. Near Dummi there is diety called Junjappa is worshipped. It is believed that this God Junjappa takes care those who are bitten by snakes.
