Mahuar is famous for Pandit and Pahalwan in olden days and now for intellectuals. Late Shri Jagdish jha was the famous Pahalwan and Pandit Bacha Jha, Pdt. Janardan Jha and Pdt. Dayanath Jha (Gold Medlist) frommahuar. Late Shri Jivneshwar Mishra Register at Nepal Rashtriya Hindi Vidyapeeth. Late Shri Ram Chandra Jha was first village chief. Bishnu Deo Jha first Engineer and Outstanding Scientist in Department of Atomic Energy. Nearest station is Biraul. Late Shri Boua Nand Mishra & Late Shri Asarfi Mishra, famous freedom fighters were from this village. There are three ponds (Pokhara) namely Mathahee, Navakee and Navaka. Village is highly rich in cultural and ethical values. Prof Vidyanath Jha Vidit was from the village who retired as Principal SP College Dumka. Many of students qualified many entrance exam and achieve own goal. many students study in Jawahar Navodaya vidyalaya Darbhanga one of them are shalini jha. She is the daughter of kisun jee jha.

Withinthe village there are two Dovees called Bisharia and Beldaree. The village land is quite fertile. Some of the cultivable clusters of areas namely Maneek, Kamalee, Bisharia Chauree, Muraulee, Saraha, Khirandhee, Udarma, Makhnaha, Korlahee, Budhia bone, Kirlahee etc called chaor and Gaachhee respectivelt. In East parbatta, Baltharee and Kanhai, in West Kumai, Bhadaun, Kasraur, Rohar, in North Asi, Bangharahta and in South Lagma, Bais Lagma, Misraulia.

Village has Ganesh Jee Mandir on Navakee Mohar, Hanuman Mandir on Navakee Mohar, Bishara Sthan in the Village, Thakur Baree having Raja Ram, Laxman, Sita idols there in, Durga Mandir on Mathahee mohar, Bajrang Bali mandir and mahadev Mandir on Musraulia Tola. Dharmaraj the most important gram devata is in the house of Pajiar near Bishara sthan. Brahma Baba another important gram devta in near Misraulia Tola. Village has utkrisht Vidyalaya up to VIIth students are taught there. Nearest high school is in Asi and nearest college is in Supaul.

There is another Dobhee near Navakee Pokhar called Tarahee. Nearest older Mahadev temples where people gather on Narak Nivaran Chaturdashee and Maha Shivratree are at Lagma, Nadai and Asi villages.
