Rasagoundanpalayam as by its name founded by a kongu vellala gounder named "Rasagoundan", who is the first settler of this village, so the village was named after him as "Rasagoundanpalayam" meaning "palayam of Rasagoundan". He is foremost ancestor to most of the residents in this village, his lineage belongs to 'thooran (kulam or kootam)' a inter division in KVG who are kin to Rasagoundan. It is a well concentrated textile manufacturing hub with powerlooms, textile mills, Agriculture was the village's foremost income source. The main crops are varieties of corn, vegetables, dairy production contributed by the majority of population lead to attraction of dairy pasteurisation plant by Milky mist, also contributes meat production including country chicken and mutton.
