OverView Of Suthena

Suthena was established by one Sukhan Shah, a Rajput zamindar whose ancestors Nagar Shah and Jhagar Shah had migrated from Rajputana, Rajasthan during Mughal period and built their fortress near village Lonhara. Suthena was originally known as Sukhena after the name of its founder, Sukhan Shah but later with allophonic changes it became Suthena.Though agriculture remains main occupation of the village, lack of labourers and proper irrigation facilities have made residents apathetic. Most of the yougesters have migrated to Delhi, Chandigarh and Punjab in search of employment. They, however, contribute a lot to the village economy. The village was adopted as Ambedkar Gram during BSP regime but except pucca CC lanes no other development has taken place. The village is yet to taste fruits of govt development schemes. Much to the relief of its residents, HCL, noted IT company, has undertaken many awareness programmes in the village and recently completed the construction of much needed overhead water tank which will supply clean drinking water to houses. The village takes pride of the fact that many boys are serving the nation by joining Indian Army while many more have preferred other govt jobs.Suthena is very conveniently situated near Balamau Junction, popular railway station just 69 kms. from the state capital, Lucknow and is well connected by rail and road to other parts of the country.
