Initially it was called as kama kerai.Later came to be known as kamagere.Gundal dam is situated near kamagere.Tiger reserve and conservation forest is supposedly planned in the near future. In the 60's and 70's it was famous for silk production and had major silk filatures one among them was Mizpah Silks. It's just 2 to 3 hours drive to Coimbatore from here.
