Vellore
It is a significant historical city, located on the banks of River Palar. Once it was a battle ground of Tamil Nadu and had witnessed several battles. Vellore fort is one of the strongest fortress and belongs to 16th century. The fort is entirelymade up of granite and serves as picnic hotspot in Vellore. It shares its credit with the India’s best hospital CMC (Christian Medical College and hospital) which is situated in city center. It is also an important commercial hub for the top exporters of leather goods. It holds the fame of housing the first research center of stem cells in India. Vellore golden temple is the top of attraction, located at Sripuram. Other attractions are Muthu Mandapam, Jalakandeshwara temple and Government museum. It has some famous churches like St.John’s church and Assumption Cathedral.

Vellore Fort
It is a famous 16th century fort and was completely made up of granites. It is also popular for its ramparts, masonry and moat. Government museum, Muthumandapam and Jalakandeshwara temple are located within this fort. It is one of the strongest fortress in India.
Golden Temple
It is a famous temple dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi. 1500 kilograms of gold was used to complete the temple. The temple covering is star shaped and the golden statues are real worthy to visit. It is located around 8 km from Vellore bus stand.
Kavalur Observatory
It houses largest telescope in Asia, located at an altitude of 725 meters above the sea level in Javadu Hills of Alangayam.
State Government Museum
It is the prominent attraction in Vellore Fort. It depicts various objects of archeology, pre-history and arts, weapons and sculptures. It also displays woods carvings, numismatics, philately, botany, zoology, handicrafts and geology.
Other Places
Rathnagiri Murugan temple, Clock tower, St.John’s Church, Amirti Zoological park, French Bungalow, Sri Selva Vinayagar temple and Balamathi are other known attractions of Vellore.

By Train
Vellore has its own railhead and it is one of the important railway junctions and well served by several trains from Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai and Hyderabad.
By Road
Several buses are connecting Vellore to all major cities of Tamil Nadu. It is one of the major bus terminals in Tamil Nadu.
Weather
In summer 32-40°C and in winter 22-32°C. August to February is perfect time to visit Vellore. It is better to avoid journey during summer as Vellore is one of the hottest place in Tamil Nadu.
