OverView of Bara Pind
The famous village of Bara Pind in the Jalandhar Doaba Region, was founded yearly 500 years ago, by a Pehalwan (Wrestler) Jatt Landlord of Sahota Clan by the name of Kaul. His younger brother Dhaul founded a village 2 mile south east of Bara Pind by the name of Dhuletta. Eearlier Bara Pind was known as simply Kuletta, but over time the Population of the village grew to be big, so the Village was renamed as Bara Pind (Big Village). Chaudhri Kaul Sahota Jatt, married a beautiful Jatt Women. From this marriage Four sons were born, namely Hari, Bail, Menn and Chand. 3 sons Left Bara Pind and settled a Village near Mahilpur hilly tracts, where they founded the village of Barian. Sahota Jatts also called in a number of Muslim Arains (Cauliflower Growers), to settle in the Village. During 1947 the Arain Caste Muslims left for Pakistan. The Descendants of Chaudhri Kaul Sahota, built their own Wards (Patti in Punjabi), and named it after themselves in the Village of Bara Pind. Starting with Patti Dhuni Ke, Patti Tangar Ke, Patti Maane Ke, Patti Lallu Ke, Patti Nihalu Ke, Patti Lamkhir Ke, Patti Baagh Mall Ke, Patti Nath Mall Ke. Bhai Naurang Singh Sahota from Patti Manna Ke of Village Bara Pind, was the first Sahota Jatt of Bara Pind to go to Anandpur Sahib, and Take Khande de Pahul from the hands of Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Jee, Tenth Sikh Guru Sahiban Jee. Bhai Naurang Singh died fighting in one of the battles of Guru Sahib Jee. For this reason his family were called Marda Ke, meaning the Family of the Brave and True Men. Even to this day the Descandents of Naurang Singh Sahota immigrated to Fresno, California USA. Many still Live in Patti Manna Ke, they are still called by the suffix of Marda Ke. During the Late 18th Century, when the Sikh Misls rose to supreme power, Sardar Gulab Singh Sahota, the Chaudhri of Bara Pind adopted the Sikh Faith and Joined Various Sikh Misls and also same time maintained his independence in not only Bara Pind but surrounding villages. The Sahota family succumbed to Sardar Fateh Singh Ahluwalia (1784-1836, and year later in 1807 Ranjit Singh brought Bara Pind under his control.Edit below overview about Bara Pind
